Thinking this would be a good fight turned out to be a quick one. Kimbo won his Saturday night fight and KO’d Tank Abbot in 43 seconds. The background for Kimbo is an interesting one, before making his debut in the mixed martial arts he was a youtube sensation in streetfighting. The fight should have ended sooner had it not been for Kimbo backing off and letting Abbot get up off the mat. As for Kimbo he was warned by the referee about hitting the back of the head which he did while Tank was aiming for the legs. This momentarily stopped the fight which shortely after this event it was stopped again by the referee because of some object being thrown into the ring.
After the fight Kimbo commented about what had happened during the fight.
“I wanted him to get up, I wanted to bang,” Kimbo said. “I had to push him off because we were too close. Then I just knocked him down. It was great fighting in front of the hometown fans. I’d be lying if I told you they didn’t jack me up. Miami, you are my home.
“I have a lot of respect for Tank. This was one of my dream fights, along with Mike Tyson. But I am ready to fight anybody and ready to fight again really soon.”
I can’t wait until the next fight to see if they put him up against a more experienced fighter. This should prove interesting since Kimbo is basically a stand up street fighter. Although he is being trained by Bas Rutten.
